Centrifugal Compressors
The pressure a compressor can develop depends on speed of rotation and diameter of impeller. Velocity changes to pressure energy in the diffuser or the volume. A centrifugal compressor uses the impeller to generate and provide the action of centrifugal forces. Centrifugal forces increase the rotational pressure of the gas inside the compressor. Centrifugal force is proportional to the mass. Pressure developed by the centrifugal compressor is approximately proportional to the square of the rotational speed of the impeller.
